Suitable for:

 

Foundation learners:

·          intended production capacities on a medium scale

·          no knowledge about biodiesel available

·          no experience in producing biodiesel

Expected Outcome:

·          acquiring the basic knowledge for producing biodiesel along with the potential saving/impact of producing/using biodiesel

·          intended production capacities on medium size scale to a large industrial scale basic knowledge and experience in producing biodiesel available

Expected Outcome:

·          Obtaining answers to detailed questions about process engineering and profitability

 

The aim of the training is to:

Train and develop the participants knowledge in making biodiesel. After taking part in the training program. All participants should have acquired the knowledge that is needed to produce their own biodiesel and appreciate the rudimentary requirements for commercial production.

Day 1

 

 

9:30 AM 1st Part: The Basics of Producing Biodiesel

·         introduction of the lecturers and of the audience among each other

·         the advantages of using biodiesel

·         usable feedstock for producing biodiesel

·         differences between the different types of feedstock

·         other substances needed for the biodiesel production

11:30 2nd Part A: Producing Biodiesel

·         required safety measures

·         dewatering in the feedstock

·         determining the quality of the feedstock (titration)

·         the transesterification process

 

12:30 PM Lunch

1:30 PM 2nd Part B: Producing Biodiesel

·         by-products of the biodiesel production

·         separating the biodiesel from the glycerol

·         washing the produced biodiesel

·         quality tests of the end product

 

2:30 PM 3rd Part: Process Engineering

·         presentation of the different technical ways of producing biodiesel

·         inspecting a biodiesel plant

·         additionally needed devices and other accessories

·         conceptualizing and dimensioning the own biodiesel plant

·         possibilities of automation

·         expandability of the different biodiesel plants

 

3:30 PM 4th Part: Calculations of Profitability

·         actual costs for the feedstock

·         actual costs for the additionally needed substances

·         operating costs

·         further utilization for the by-products

·         cost/benefit calculation for additional extensions of the plant
